Weekly Thing
Weekly thing is a new experiment I'm putting on trial - quick reflections and plans, to try to give myself more grace and more inspiration when progress is sluggish or everything seems slow as heck.
Hi friends,
In case the little heading isn't clear, I'm trying something new out! More details below, but this will be the first issue!
Something I Did:
I am unfortunately stuck home with COVID-19 - the goddamn second time in my life. The worst bit, besides all the cancellations of meetups and events, is the fact that I get tired easily, so I can't concentrate on screens for long.
In light of that, I did manage to finally catch up on season 2 of Abbott Elementary on Disney+! 16 episodes took me 4 days1, but I haven't yet finished the season because I slept today away.
It was really nice to watch something so comforting and yet so excitingly awkward that the hours just kinda flew by.
Something I'm Doing:
This new weekly thing! I'm most probably going to be writing this on my phone most weeks, i think2.
In order to make it all connect together though, I also (before I tested positive on Monday morning) started work on segmenting my Substack properly so it all looks like different sections!
Something I'm Thinking About:
The reason I'm doing this weekly thing, even though I have failed many fucking times at keeping to a consistent writing schedule, is because I was thinking back to when writing was easy and fun.
That happened all the way back in like 2005(?), on my first blog (blogspot girlies say hi) where all I did was just ramble about my day in detail, every single day3.
And as much as writing is a serious affair and something that requires discipline, this Substack is a way for me to get back into the groove without as much pressure as writing for well, money. So this is a way to get the daily rambles in but weekly chunks instead I guess. I hope it works!
See you soon,
Charing
an eternity in my book
I haven't opened my computer the past 5 days; never thought I would miss that!
these were like 600 words each! I credit it for, and also believe it benefited heavily from, my incredible short-term memory lol.
