Weekly thing is my series of quick reflections and plans. It goes out, as expected, at the end of every week. The aim is to use this consistent writing to give myself more grace and more inspiration when progress (in other things) is sluggish.
Hi friends,
First things first: I'm gonna stick with the numbered naming of this. It is silly (and irrelevant to you, the reader!) to go numerically, but it scratches my itch for a long-running writing gig.
My ego can't wait for the day in which I can see #52 and realise that I've been doing it for a whole year!
Also: I'm tired because I didn't sleep well so please excuse the extra-direct tone of this week’s edition.
Something I Did:
This week was human interaction week. A plan got moved, so I ended up with two volunteering gigs and two dear friends came over to see the new house.
I'm not complaining, as it was my choice to catch up with old friends and to increase my human interaction.
More importantly, though, I think I managed it well, and I'm proud of myself for being able to do this without overextending as usual.
I balanced my energy levels with time to rest, and it worked out! Give me my medal!
Recently read: Cat Lady by Dawn O’ Porter. It was a random recommendation, so I'm not familiar with her other work, but damn this kicked me in the heart as an animal lover.
Something I'm Doing:
On a smaller, but significant note: I'm gonna be skipping wine at night for a while.
There was an open bottle of moscato that was in the fridge, and I wanted to clear it, so I decided to drink a (not small) glass at night.
I believe it's the cause of my sleeping problems this week, and while correlation doesn't equal causation, I don't see how this decision could harm me since I finally finished the bottle last night.
Tossing and turning for hours is just not my vibe, and I think it somehow made me anxious and jittery too. Ugh. No more wine for now!!!
Something I'm Thinking About:
Time seems to have flown? Again?
I was talking to my friend and realized that I had known her for 8 years, which is ridiculous because we met at my second job 😭
Most of my newer friendships are almost 10 years old1! Holy shit!
Of course, as with everything, it's messed up because the COVID years formed a chunk of it, but damn if I don't still think that 10 years ago was 2006 😅
See you soon,
Charing
Although most of them contained long breaks where we didn't meet, I still count it.
You get 2 medals!! 🥇🥇 ❤️
